What makes you think this? Did you hear something or are you going by information on the internet.

Joe Lombardo and his brothers - Rocky, Nucci and Vic used to hit balls in Melrose Park and hang out at the old golfland driving range near Kiddieland - from what I've learned, these Grand Avenue guys were coming into Melrose Park during Aiuppa's heyday and taking over (obviously with Aiuppa's blessing).
Last FB pic posted in 2018, but his profile is pretty locked down so that doesn't mean much other than he was alive as of then.

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think that the Grand Av boys had to take over anything in MP since they already had huge interests in that same area since "day one", first through Pranno, Amabile and Battaglia and later with Alderisio and Nicoletti

Corbitt wrote a book with many unbased statements and general talk which he probably heard through the years...for example he portrayed Hy Larner like someone who made James Bond look like a little baby and also being the real power behind the Outfit. Who knows maybe Larner was a real life 007 but he surely didn't give orders to Giancana or Aiuppa or any of the capos. Although I have to admit that I find the situation a little bit strange, like the moment when Corbitt’s book came out, and when the CIA immediately rushed and assaulted the book. "The allegations about the CIA are a potpourri of yarns that don't bear any resemblance to reality," said Mark Mansfield, a spokesman for the organization at the time

In addition, I can't remember who said it, but someone was quoted as saying Lombardo "helped fill up a cemetery or two". Something to that effect.
That was Michael Corbitt
Yes, you're right! Thanks. That was the Cop or ex Cop that was close to Giancana and was involved in delivering money to different Outfit Bosses from the Willow Springs racket.
Yes, didn't Corbitt say that Lombardo didn't like him because he was a cop .

Thanks guys, maybe another motivation is that Lombardo was convicted of murdering a federal witness? I can't understand why they have Marcello locked up 23 hours a day like that with terrorists and violent cons though. Not gonna shed any tears for these career criminals just find it rather curious.

Does anyone know why Lombardo and Marcello were locked up in the supermax? To my knowledge the only mob guys to get locked up there are Casso, Gravano and Basciano. Guys that the Feds really had a grudge against.

It just seems weird that they had Lombardo in there at the age of 90 and Marcello to this day in his 70s. Especially when you consider that Vic Amuso is cooling his heels in an FCI when not only was he convicted of more murders than these guys, but informants over the last couple decades have given information and testimony that he continues to call shots for his crime family from behind bars. Have Lombardo and Marcello ever been caught giving orders to the street? Or do the Feds just have a hard-on for the Outfit in general?
My thought is it might be a measure taken to insure the safety of the Seifort family members and others like Spilotro daughter. Seeing the Outfit did try to get to Nick Calabrese through Ambrose. Just a thought. The Amuso comparison is correct, but life is unfair.

They really wanted to make Lombardo an example and they definitely had the "Grind" on him.

Pete wrote: Fri Oct 25, 2019 3:14 pm I also wonder how much structure there really is. I don’t think solly d is the boss which The fbi or whoever claimed. But this is what happens when a family is dying the structure starts going and before you know it there’s a few old guys just hanging on
If not Solly D then who? Nobody? Just made guys with no structure now ?
I wouldn’t say no structure I just don’t believe the websites that say they have a boss underboss consigliere (especially since they never had such a position) and multiple capos. Also find it hard to believe Rudy Fratto is boss of elm wood park when all the info I have read says difronzo deactivated that crew 20 years ago. Being around that neighborhood I’ve never seen Rudy there. Most active guys in that neighborhood seem to be Tony dote and Nicky cataudella for whatever that’s worth. I think it’s more likely that there are a few capos that run their crews somewhat independently. Spent a lot of time in island lake and solly d sure doesn’t seem like any mob boss. Always working his legit job or with his grandkids. Again all outside observations so make of it what you will
I would say your observations make a lot of sense instead of a bunch of gross exaggerations from some people who wish the Outfit was like it was 40 years ago. I thought Nick Cataudella was with Cicero? Also, like you, everything I ever read or researched indicated that DiFronzo backed far away along time ago and he had nothing but disdain for Fratto. Solly D. would have to be completely out of his mind to be the Boss of whatever is left of the dying Outfit. It does seem like a couple of those small Crews left operate independently. There really isn't much to talk about concerning the Outfit in 2019.
Nick Cataudella is in the Cicero crew but lives in Chicago just over the border from elmwood park. Therefore you see him around a lot just doing normal things getting dinner etc doesn’t mean anything outfit related
