I know Abel , good guy , good restaurant ( more Brazilian ) and you would never know his place was a borderline mob front. Right after the bust he re did the place , lol, balls
Glad he got off pretty light . I don’t know Manuel but I was told he was the one that likely got Abel to write the checks. A lot of blow has been moved in that area in years past by Brazilians and I’ve heard Manuel used to be involved in that to some extent
A lot of cash checking places in that area of NWK and there is no way another spot hasn’t been set up, that’s a guess tho
This crew was no joke , legit big $ rackets and you really have to hand it to the West Side as Italians moved out of down neck many years ago yet this guy still generating millions from the area partnering with the local Portuguese and Brazilians. They must still have an enormous loan book lending to the locals there as a lot of the area is still first generation immigrants , small stores / restaurants , lots of gambling interest , basically a population that still does things the old way ( again a guess ).
Even at the Port I hear they use the Irish as front men which seems to have some merit when looking at recent cases
