He was suspected, But guys would never really confront him about it because they simply didn't wanna end up not making it home for dinner and being dinner for what lurks on the bottom of the ocean

He gave up friends, even a few after bringing them into the mob. He was suspected of ratting back in the 1970s, if not for the Columbo leadership not being on top of things he would have been shelved or killed. He was in the right place for a guy like him, at the right time. A smart guy would have eased off, he just kept doing whatever he wanted. If he had been with another family I believe he would have not lasted.
He lasted that long because he was a Gangster and an FBI agent basically, Guys from every family were scared shitless of the guy, He was no joke ! And he played it perfectly, Je did whatever he wanted because he could ! For over 30 years the guy murdered whenever, Whoever at the the drop of a hat , The guy was in a class all by himself, He used the FBI and they used him, It was mutual ! He just killed, He really never asked permission and other mob guys knew he walked to the beat of his own drum and said nothing, yes, Your right he was a horrible guy and the devil incarnate himself , Pure evil

I cant stand Gotti or any of the Gottis and those he brought in. Who the hell did Gotti kill ? I still haven't heard of anyone Gotti hit directly himself except for some guy in the Bronx, Speculation supposedly, Unconfirmed and the Irish hoods who kidnapped Gambinos nephew which he might of oe might not have pulled the trigger? Gotti was a brawler and street tough but no personal hitter, Just a tough guy with a gigantic mouth who constantly ran it and then set up the killing of a boss unsanctioned that he watched from a parked car .Gravano was a major earner, Tough guy and had 19 confirmed hits under his belt and was learning the waste industry and turning everything to gold . Gotti is bad mouthing him trying to gain support against him and after he killed castellano he became a celebrity in the limelight and surrounded himself with an entourage, And gave up the whole family with his daily meetings because he was scared and was marked and got all his guys around him killed and did nothing . He wanted to go to jail where it was the safest place for him . Gravanos a rat but I dont blame the guy, He was a money machine, Tough guy, Major hitter and racketeer and had to listen and watch this dumbbell freak saunter around taking pics signing autographs on the covers of papers and magazines and then go down for life for this scumbag POS who did nothing . Gravano refused to rat out his friends and crew and they're still out there on 17th Avenue with a big following, Knee deep in Construction trades, loansharking, Gambling making major money . I hear they have the Brooklyn waterfront now over the last year or 2

There can be only one. Sonny Franzese.

(Although Carmine the Snake Persico would be a very close contender). The Colombos are specialized in doing time.
Dominic Bretti? But maybe Teddy Persico Jr. if we’re measuring prison time proportional to age.

That's the real my man! Not like these fucking roleplaying motherfuckers that want to put two in the head of people they don't know never met or will meet who would make them shoot and shit their pants if they ever looked at them funny. It ain't the movies. Its made up street bullshit there going by. Among the square citizenry there's more love for a guy like Gravano, Sonny black, lefty guns, and guess who else? Fish cafaro. More than there is for the bosses that got a benjamin for the commission trial. You know why? They was among the people. Fish was loved by the common folk. Kids loved him. If anyone is upset at him ratting it ain't because fat tony, who was NEVER among the people or rubbed elbows wit the community, regardless of the madeup bullshit people have written about east harlem, but because fish ain't around no more to help out. All them years sammy bull was in brooklyn and doing favors for regular joes doesn't go out the window in people's eyes because he sneak hit dee bee, milito, etc. and ratted on the boss. The fuck do they care? Only the gottis and the mobwives are pissed...lol.

Bklyn21 wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 3:03 pm Smartest:: Scarpa, Saviest::Scarpa, Vicious::Scarpa , Worst:: Scarpa . Scarpa was extremely smart and Savvy and vicious , He used the FBI to his total advantage and had Carte blanche with the Feds which he utilized for 30 plus years to get ahead, stay ahead in the street and to rule roughshod over his crime family counterparts. He earned untold amounts in the streets and through his LE , FBI dealings, Barely spent a night in jail until the end when he contracted Aids and had no way out of his misfortunes which he still beat the system by dying and getting himself off the hook by death .Certain guys knew he was possibly and close associates knew he was double dealing and did really nothing due to being petrified of the grim reaper. The guy knew the life was a dead end and played the system and the 5 families like a Chess master . Guy was a shrewd, Smart, Psychopathic phenomenon in itself. Alot of guys in the street today, Particularly in Brooklyn constantly talk of Scarpa as bigger than life and the "Life" itself even though they know the guy was an informant/Rat which to me is mind boggling, Guy is a legend in Brooklyn, And certain Brooklyn neighborhoods
X-ZAC!

You nailed it and is the truth. Despite the Scarpa being a rat the people on the ground only remember "The grim reaper." Same reason why a lot of kids in the 1960s was rooting for crazy joe gallo and kids were rooting for gotti. Anybody that gets over on any kind of authority in any public way gets love from the mob. Not the italian mob but the square citizenry. The robin hood sindrome. He ain't mention in the same tone a disgust as sammy bull or alite. Scarpa is still part of the ny mob legend that gets boasted about. Its a reverse situatuon. Just like scarpa could snitch but still plug a guy and live the life, a square citizen can still be fascinated with a rat as long as he don't raise the hand and testifies in open court. It's not too hard to comprehend. If the west side can plead guilty to shave timw, a killing machine can dry snitch to get over. Survival of the fittest. In the end he still got the bug. So it ain't like he got away with anything. People on the ground view his brand of snitching as part of the hustle. And it is.

JIGGS
I hear it constantly ! Everytime I go into one of the cafes that are open to the public but also host/Cater to mob guys of every kind just about every day I constantly hear about Scarpa and guys telling stories of Scarpa and how just not too long ago in the 80s and 90s the neighborhood was a war zone and shooting gallery and how there were guys on every corner and block for miles and how it's all gone now just like that , Guys in my neighborhood and the surrounding seem to love 3 people genuinely and are constantly spoken about with a genuine love and affection but not to be fucked with , Scarpa, Gravano, Anthony Spero always, Like clockwork
