YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A Youngstown bingo supply business is one of 35 locations in three states being searched as part of an investigation into illegal gambling operations.
Secret Service Agents, as well as law enforcement personnel with the Ohio Investigative Unit, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation conducted the searches in Ohio, Florida and Georgia on Wednesday.
Among the 30 searches taking place in Ohio, one warrant was executed at Nannicola, a bingo supply company.
21 News found agents at the Salt Springs Road business on Wednesday.
Ohio Investigative Unit Public Information Officer Julie Hinds says the investigation is ongoing, but she does not expect that criminal charges would immediately be filed.
She says the investigative unit will release more information after administrative charges are filed against liquor operations involved in the searches.
According to Hinds, administrative charges are filed against liquor permit holders that may be in violation of Ohio laws prohibiting gaming at liquor establishments.
According to the Nannicola website, the company is one the largest distributors of charitable gaming and fundraising products in the United States.
The Nannicola product line includes bingo paper, instant bingo tickets, pull tabs, jar tickets, seal cards, bingo daubers, electronic bingo units, gift baskets, player tracking software, furniture, bingo equipment and more.
The website says that Nannicola was founded in 1933, and supports customers in more than 30 states.
The company also says that it holds gaming licenses in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and New York.
Attempts by 21 News to contact management at Nannicola have been unsuccessful.
In addition to the 30 search warrants executed throughout Ohio, three more were in Florida and two in Georgia.
Other agencies involved in the investigation include, from Ohio, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Euclid, Parma and Springfield police departments, as well as, from Florida, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.
