Yes, Train is back on track running late!! I wonder if Ragusa gets out after this new bid and maybe they'll tell him get dressed your getting made, Tell him to bring his own gun and knife like the colombos did and have the whole ceremony set up by the FBI with everyone at the ceremony being federal agents posing as Gangsters . After everything is said and done off you go Mr.Paulie right back to a federal BOP .IMO that would be some hilarious shit

They'd have little to no success and be met with Pushback and have to shoot it out with people who give no fucks who they are. And would have no problems removing some Italians from they're area. They know they have no business being in these areas and would be thrown out like yesterdays trash
The mob needing Italian neighborhoods has long been the assumption but I'm not sure that's really the case. How many Italian neighborhoods are left in the greater New York area? Going by that alone, the mob probably should have disappeared already. But it hasn't.

I think part of assimilation into the general mainstream that is easily overlooked, when it comes to the mob, is that they've been able to operate in any area that's largely mainstream white, i.e. not an area that is non-white or decidedly ethnic white like a Russian or Albanian neighborhood, etc.

So, while in one sense, assimilation has brought about the demise of most of the mob; in another sense it's provided a place and means to operate for the part of the mob that remains.
There is barely any left, And the reason they needed these neighborhoods back in the day was first recruitment, Loansharking, Unlimited numbers of businesses, To pay protection, Bust out, Extort, Run scams n schemes, To launder money, Drug dealing, Protection and to remain and stay insulated, Have people look up to them, Kids included, As basic celebrities, Men of honor, Protection of the neighborhood,Places they could conduct business easier and so on and so forth etc etc... They will always find ways to adapt but these neighborhoods that are long gone and never coming back were ground zero and they're virtual kingdoms, Scams and schemes were planned and executed and many fortunes were made ! Those were the good old days and are never coming back as we all know...They "SOLD OUT"

if you own your home, no one is pushing you out except for the bank if you're mortgaged or the county if you owe a shitload of taxes. most of these areas we are talking about were filled with single family homes. people left voluntarily for whatever personal reasons they had, all valid... but i doubt too many people who got their homes in the 50s - 70s and sold in the last 20 years sold at a loss. now a lot of those single family homes got chopped up into 2/3 family homes by the people who bought them for literal bags of cash

the same thing is happening now all over northern brooklyn. the hasids are going door to door hoping to find a black family who owns their home, down on their luck and stupid enough to sell for a fraction of it's value, in cash lmao...👍👍

It is because the area changed from Catholic to Muslim, with any new Catholics being Hispanic, and going to school tuition free. I bet they were not "Crying" either.
im sure that has something to do with it, but really theres not a ton of young (white) families who are in a big rush to support the catholic church in general these days. i dont want to hear about the church especially the archdioses of new york crying broke either. give me a break.

catholic school was a good relatively affordable alternative to more expensive private school. now theres not too many left. they've consolidated. my wife's school / academy in manhattan was closed down and the land was sold to condo developers. i couldnt imagine the rake on that one but if it were in the double digit millions i wouldnt be surprised. after decades of not paying any real estate taxes and getting all sorts of breaks. please

the only place the church is still popular is immigrant communities and even that is waining as those kids get more americanized and turn 2nd and 3rd generations american. 2 generations of my family went to catholic school grades K-12. mine was the first in the fam to not go, my parents didnt want me going. wonder why?

anyway i could talk NY all day but back to the topic at hand...and to tie in a little Catholicism... i hope this Ragusa asshole burns in hell

Not much really, Its been 20 plus years since I've seen, Much less heard some of these names . Back in the late 80's and throughout the 90's these neighborhoods were all constantly fighting/Warring with each other, Alot of them hated each other. Ozone Pk. Would regularly brawl/Fight Howard beach, Woodhaven and Ozp would fight Middle village and ridgewood. Ridgewood vs. Ozp etc etc.. neighborhoods lines and loyalties were tight and fierce ! Brooklyn was the same thing, Marine Pk. And mill basin, Bensonhurst and gravesend etc etc. Now ?? Lmfaoo what a joke !! Mob guys and they're families and friends just constantly move and abandon there so called neighborhoods and crammed themselves into places like SI, LI, And then blame every other nationality, Ethnic group for destroying your so called neighborhoods ! These scumbags destroyed their own neighborhoods by acting like Pos animals they are
i always found that hilarious. its not so much the old timers, as it is the boomers, who actually complain about the neighborhoods changing, not being the same, or "going to shit" - but they're the ones who voluntarily left. lmao.

they were all crying about a school in bensonhurst closing down recently. all over the news. end of an era. the boomers were being interviewed saying its a real shame "oh i went there as a kid" 'blah blah blah. yeah? if it was so important why'd you move to Tom's River to have your kids go to a public school there instead? if it was so important how many trips did you make back for mass?

i understand why people leave the city, but dont turn around and cry that its gone to shit or that your favorite bakery closed down, when all the people who made it what it was high tailed it out of there and never send a dollar back to the old neighborhood. complain about the chinks taking over but gladly accept the back of cash they offer for your home lmao

i will say that i see a lot of former residents or kids of former residents in Corona a lot. every weekend the area gets flooded with people driving in to go to parkside or the triangle. thats kind of nice to see. but cant help but think what that area would be like if those people stayed and built lives and community there
Exactly !! I say the same, And every week I run into at least one or two people who are ranting and raving about how the neighborhoods used to be and how shitty it is today,How they remember this and that blahs blahs blahs!! As soon as a few other ethnicities moved In you people took flight and left faster than an F16 on a flight mission ! Lmao, I love these people , Ohhhh we stopped off in Corona, Went to parkside, Had lemon ice king etc etc. Or, We went to lil Italy, Or Bensonhurst for whatever, Arthur ave. So on and so forth. I love the City and I actually love the different ethnicities. Im Sicilian and I like it better now than when these fake ass Italians were here and I had to deal with that shit on the regular and listen and deal with the the nonstop BS and Italian neighborhood politics . Bert is right, These assholes SOLD OUT they're people and Communities. I'm glad when these people do come back from LI and Tom's river ,NJ, Connecticut, Westchester they come for one reason, To hide out in Restaurants and whatever spot they're so excited to be at for the day and tell stories of the past from the comfort of their corner booth or table, And when your done you can go back to your new homes from the place you abandoned long ago

Here is why schools close in Bensohurst, they give money away to "newcomers". Take a look at this photo and try saying Bensonhurst is still Italian.
