Ive been reading a lot lately about the Brooklyn wing of Lucchese family and a coupla things caught my attention. Firstly the Brooklyn guys were insanely lucky with the time they got. Desantis, Lastorino, Zappola, etc all should’ve gotten life sentences but managed to get off with ridiculous plea deals. Especially Zappola he killed a bunch of people but for some reason he’s free. And i dont know why prosecutors never charged Lastorino with the Bobby Boriello hit. Could it be possible the lenient plea agreements were a result of Casso’s time as a witness? Casso caught additional charges while in prison and he was basically a failure as an informant. If the Lucchese guys went on trial, the defense would’ve tore Casso apart on the stand,thus hurting the gov’s case.
