The other thread about Stanfa got me thinking again about Quentin Tarantino would be absolutely perfect to make The Goodfella Tapes into a movie.

Hell Tarantino wouldn't even have to do all that much. The insane story and crazy characters are already totally set up for him.

I've always regarded the Rizzutos' life story as the real-life version of The Godfather, which is a big reason why I became so intruiged and interested in it. And it will most likely be turned into a movie in the future. I believe the rights of Mafia Inc. are already obtained. And now that both Rizzutos are deceased, it will be easier to start production sooner than later.

What's the story?

Scene after scene of Roy and the twins shooting and stabbing some poor barstard at the Gemini?
Yawn.

It'd get pretty old pretty quick IMO. Long 120 minutes to sit through.
read the book and maybe then you would have an idea of what it's about .

There's lots of stuff in the book that isn't in the film so there's plenty of content left to play with and also room for some artistic license. Donnie Brasco's story is ideal to flesh out as a serie.

In adition, the films I've mentioned would cover the most interesting years of the mob. Petrosino's film would cover the very early years of the Morellos up until 1910. Then Lucky Luciano's story starts where Petrosino's left off: Luciano as a young boy in the early 1910s making his first steps in crime followed by some backstory of the formation of the families. You can even include the Apalachin meeting in his story. Then Roy DeMeo's story starts in the early 1960s and his rise in the Gambino family. And in Rizzuto's story you can include the Pizza Connection, some backstory of Gotti and Massino, and ofcourse the last Montreal war. Then you've covered it all.

A mob series about an FBI agent infiltrating LCN would be great. Especially if they kept it realistic in the style of The Wire. It would be better if they didn't directly base it on Brasco snce that would spoil many of the storylines.

TV Serie:

Then you pretty much covered it all.

The wrath of Tony Accardo after his house gets robbed.

The fall of Bruno leading up to him getting killed.

The Commission Case and all that went on behind the scenes, including how they felt their families should move on after they go to prison. It could also touch on the Castellano hit. It could start off with Rudy Guiliani reading Bonanno's book, lol.

The Pizza Connection

Of course, how much of any of these be accurate? A lot of holes to fill.


Here's another one, the Family Secrets Case, it could have a court room setting with flashback reenactments of all the crimes and murders they were accused of orchestrating.

The next Mob Reality Show is going to be a bunch of assholes functioning as legit crime family. It'll entail guys waking up, dressing in Armani, giving the nod to their lackies to do their elementary children's HW in Versace suits and sunglasses so their children can get A's, the leads will get get slapped by their guido wives (who are the worst scummiest and false representations of Italian Brookyen Women everrrrrr), then it's into the Roll's Royce -(with a zoom up of Our Character wearing sunglasses- a mobfilm must)- then it's off to "legitmate rackets" where the guy shakes his hands and says some guido shit (that would get you slapped in Williamsburg BK- FYI) and suddently "the wiseguy gets his way :!:" On to S1E2.

Some of the best movies would be from story lines you'd least expect. I mean who would think one of the best mob movies of all time would be about some low level Luchesse associate? (Henry Hill)

All that's left to do is a Mob Reality show...but I guess Mob Wives kinda is. I'm sure media whore Mike Franzese has been trying to sell a reality show to Hollywood for yrs...

I don't hold out much hope for mob movies or TV. The genre has been so well covered over the years and it's difficult to mine new, compelling stuff. I'm talking about stuff that would compel the general public, which is why a quality writer/producer/director would get involved. Not just something us mob watchers would like to see. One could watch The Godfather I and II, Goodfellas, Casino, and The Sopranos and they would pretty much be set. That's the cream of the crop of mob cinema.

I would love a well written researched, and in-depth book that focuses solely on the Genovese family. But that's probably never going to happen.
