Its the Laborers District Council of Western Pennsylvania. Local 1058 was put under oversight back in 2001 for its mob ties, and there haven't been any cases since then, but you still see names like Pecora, Laquatra, and Ameris running the local or on the DC executive board.

With no family left, there's nobody to kick up to. It's more a case of family members of deceased mob guys enjoying the positions and money they were given. And I doubt there is any connection to the Genovese family in New York.

Correct. John LaRocca Jr was VP with the union when it was being investigated back in the 80’s-90’s. LaRocca Sr sold a piece of commercial property to the DC Local 1058 for an amount that was almost 5 times the assessed value. LaRocca Sr grandson and Mike Genovese’s son are both with the Pittsburgh Post Gazette trick drivers union to this day. Majority of these Pittsburgh guys didn’t want this life for their kids so they set them up with cushy jobs through all of their former connections.

Correction...the most recent guys in Youngstown and Pittsburgh were rats. The generation prior...very very few. It’s like that everywhere. IMO, Narcotics=Busted=Cooperation because of the stiff sentences. Narcotics does strange things to people, I’m sure a few forum members could identify.
