Appeals rejected for Gambino-Inzerillo arrestees in Palermo^

PALERMO - They all remain in jail. The Review Court rejects the appeals of Francesco and Tommaso Inzerillo, Giovanni Buscemi and Rosario Gambino. The prosecution of the prosecutor's office that coordinated the investigation into the Mafia of Passo di Rigano is being prosecuted.

"Two, three months after he left the prison, he looked for me and I went very willingly," said Filippo Bisconti, boss of Belmonte di Mezzagno and today repented. To look for it was Giovanni Buscemi, 64, who had taken back the scepter of power after serving a long sentence for the mafia. The Dda and the Palermo mobile team place him at the top of the mandate.

His judicial history began in 1994 when he was already a loyalist of Totò Rina. After a period of inaction, Buscemi had been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Giovanni Giordano, whose body he had also dissolved in acid. The sentence to life imprisonment in April 2018 was commuted to him in thirty years of detention. A month later, at the end of May, this is how Francesco Colletti, Villabate's repentant boss, recounts, "there was also Buscemi Giovanni and, I believe, he thought of putting this house at his disposal." And that is the house in Baida where the new dome of Cosa Nostra has gathered.

Francesco Inzerillo, 63, one of the sons, is also in prison, the other is Rosario, of Giuseppe who survived the mafia war of the 1980s. Brother Totuccio was one of the first to fall under the blows of the Corleonese. Francesco Inzerillo, 'u truttaturi, has always come out unscathed from the investigation. In 1988 he was involved in the Iron Tower operation, and was acquitted in 1999 of the crime of mafia association. In 1997 he was expelled from the United States and arrested upon his arrival in Rome. In 2006 he was again in prison in the Gotha blitz and sentenced to ten and a half years, in the first and second grade, annulled by the Cassation.

Appeal also rejected for Rosario Gambino, 77 years old, the drug trafficker investigated by Giovanni Falcone. In 2014 he returned to Palermo after 55 years of life in America. Gambino, Joseph's nephew, the chief of the American mafia, had made his fortune overseas, but remained there for 25 years. Saro the American had settled in the Borgo Nuovo district where he would have weighed his criminal past. Gambino was granted house arrest for reasons of health and age.

Tommaso Inzerillo, nicknamed Tamì u scarpuni, cousin of Francesco, 70, remains in prison. In 1980 they found him in Santo Domingo where he had taken refuge to escape the arrest warrant signed by the investigating judge Giovanni Falcone for conspiracy to export currency and sell drugs. He risked life imprisonment for the accusation of having enticed his relatives Pietro and Antonio Inzerillo, giving them to the Corleonese in exchange for his own life. He was acquitted of murder and released on November 15, 2013 after serving 10 years in prison for the mafia.

In front of the Review for Tommaso Inzerillo, as well as for Alessandro Mannino, he has held up only one of the ten protests, that of mafia association, while for extortion and damage, the existence of serious indications of guilt has been excluded. Santo Cipriano was freed, defended by the lawyer Antonino Lo Cascio.

Based on the font I'd say it's 99.99% likely made on a forum or FB with comic sans being used to imitate a Sopranos-style FBI chart

The return of the "escaped" and the business of the bosses with drugs and slots, asked for 23 sentencesChronicle
The return of the "escaped" and the business of the bosses with drugs and slots, asked for 23 sentences
The process in abbreviated form is the one born from the "New Connection" operation in which the links between the Palermo and American mafia members had re-emerged. The Prosecutor invokes 20 years in prison for the head of the Passo di Rigano clan, Tommaso Inzerillo

Sandra Figliuolo

19 October 2020
The return of the "escaped" and constant contacts with the New York mafia, but also deals with slots, lace and drugs, the summits organized on a rubber dinghy in the middle of the Mondello sea to avoid wiretapping. These are some of the central points of the "New Connection" investigation which, in July last year, had led to 19 arrests , including those of the Passo di Rigano bosses Tommaso and Franco Inzerillo. Now the prosecutor has asked the gup Elisabetta Stampacchia for the sentence of 23 defendants who have chosen the shortened procedure.

Specifically, the highest penalties invoked by the deputy prosecutor Salvatore De Luca and the substitutes Amelia Luise and Giovanni Antoci, who coordinated the investigation, are the 20 years in prison each for Tommaso Inzerillo and Giovanni Buscemi, who he has already spent several years in his cell due to the mafia and the murder of Giovanni Giordano, whose body he had also dissolved in acid. Unexpectedly, however, the life sentence was converted into 30 years of imprisonment and, in 2018, Buscemi was free again. But briefly, since he was arrested again with "New Connection".

The Prosecutor then asked for 14 years and 8 months for Giuseppe Sansone, 14 years 2 months and 20 days for Alessandro Mannino, 14 years for Antonino Fanara, 12 years each for Benedetto Gabriele Militello and Giuseppe Spatola, son-in-law of Tommaso Inzerillo. He himself, in the interceptions, claimed to have to teach his 2-year-old son to shoot: "As soon as he has the strength in his finger - he said - he takes and cafudda". A will that the accused had also expressed on the day of the anniversary of the Capaci massacre, on 23 May 2018.

The prosecution invoked 10 years each for four other defendants: Santo Cipriano, Antonio Di Maggio, Francesco Inzerillo and Giuseppe Lo Cascio. Much lighter penalties were finally requested for Giovanni Buccheri and Veronica Cascavilla (2 years and 4 months each), for the owner of "La Rosa Sport", Tommaso La Rosa (2 years and 2 months) and for Paolina Argano, Alfredo. Bonanno, Maurizio Ferdico, Antonino Intravaia, Salvatore Lapi, Alessandra Mannino, Fabio Orlando, Rosalia Purpura and Giovanni Sirchia (2 years each).

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the sports shop in La Rosa should have been transformed into a large betting hall. And Spatola thought big, imagining an "American place, a Texan casino, a poker thing and all machines", a slot room "with a card and 40 televisions, which as it is coming up there are none in Palermo" , a "spectacular thing". Tommaso Inzerillo's son-in-law also had ambitious plans for the inauguration: he would have liked "sushi, oysters, models, Anna Falchi, Mara Venier, Belen, let's see who we can annagghiare".

Another ten defendants, who have decided to carry out the trial, have already been sent to trial in recent months by the judge. For them, the trial will begin in court in December. Last summer, when the preliminary hearing had opened, the defense counsel of a defendant had found that the prosecutor had not respected the deadlines for the notification of the request for indictment, which was brought forward by three days. An element that had brought everything back to the preliminary investigation stage. Someone had raised the risk of release from prison for the accused, but the margins were wide and in fact the prosecutor not only redid all the documents in time, but also proceeded with the indictment.
