Re: Visiting Pittsburgh 1963
When Tony Lima visited Pittsburgh later on he learned the brother John LaRocca had been made.
Re: Visiting Pittsburgh 1963
I've never seen that before. How reliable was Lima's information pipeline?

Re: Visiting Pittsburgh 1963
It was excellent. Many ex-Pittsburgh members around him in the Bay Area and he still visited Pittsburgh where he got updates on the inner-workings of the Family.
Re: Visiting Pittsburgh 1963
JCB, here's the actual report from January 1973 where Lima told them John LaRocca had been made. The info originally came from John's redacted business partner in Johnstown.
Doesn't seem Lima had been formally introduced to him at any point. Maybe John got made sometime between 1969-1973 since Lima saw him around ~1969 when a party was held for Lima in Johnstown and wasn't introduced as a member then.

Thank you for posting. The person Lima is referring to is Joe Regino, who was a partner in the Keystone Cigarette Vending.B. wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 7:40 pm JCB, here's the actual report from January 1973 where Lima told them John LaRocca had been made. He asked if I was Charlie Murgie's friend from Youngstown. I told him it could have been me as we went hunting together.
He told me that he went to school Joe Regino and introduced Charlie to his wife. He also buried Charlie. Go figure

Joe Regino was Big John’s favorite. They wintered in Florida together for 30 years. Joe was Calabrese, ran Johnstown/Altoona with an iron fist since the 1940’s until his death in mid 80’s.FriendofHenry wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 11:16 amStrange coincidence as I was recently seated a a wedding reception with a funeral director from Warren, Ohio.JCB1977 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 6:40 amThank you for posting. Excellent. I always emphasize the "chain of custody" for hearsay in FBI reports, so the fact that it originally came from Regino gives it credibility.JCB1977 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 6:40 amThank you for posting. Re: Visiting Pittsburgh 1963
David Robert Iacovetti, living in Altoona as early as 1937 per newspapers. Iacovetti was allegedly the sponsor for Jack Verilla getting made. He was also connected to NJ, the Gambino's in CT and in NYC as well. Anybody have any other info on this guy?

Thanks for the info on the name change. Were the parents from Cosenza province, or elsewhere in Calabria?JCB1977 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 9:17 am Gabriel & Sam Mannarino's Parents:

JCB -- what was Michael Traficante's heritage? The Altoona / Johnstown member informant seemed to be Sicilian or at least heavily favored the Sicilian side of things based on what he said to the FBI. Wondering who would have been Sicilian in that crew circa late 1960s.
Re: Visiting Pittsburgh 1963
That’s the one that I don’t have but I can begin working on it…Verilla’s grandfather was from the Campania area, Regino was Calabrian. Traficante and Sam Fashionatta aka Sam Fashion were the other two made guys…I’ll trace their heritage.B. wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 10:50 pm JCB -- what was Michael Traficante's heritage?
