Chicago wrote:Nice posting, Villian, of Capone's Organization which at that time was run like a big Corporation with a Head Accountant and Ledgers.
The Ledgers all added up to $105,000,000 Gross income for the Capone Boys in their peak year which was very impressive.
The Feds verified it all in their case against him. They managed to obtain the Ledgers.
His lawyer argued in Court that not all that money went to Capone, but it didn't matter because he spent way more than what he actually declared for himself and they obviously put him away for income tax evasion.
Also, if you notice, alot of Capone's men actually started out as bodyguards for him and then they were placed in other positions.
Thanks Chi-man.Yeah most of the guys from the Outfit's golden era started as low level guys or bodyguards in the Capone organization.

I also added Anthony Pinelli on the list.He started as a bootlegger on the North/West side and later he was promoted and moved his operations to Gary Indiana.

When you think about it, this was the first time the Government went after anyone using the net worth method resulting in Al Capone's income tax evasion conviction. By Capone running his criminal organization as a, I guess one could say, a Fortune 500 company for that time period, having those accurate ledgers was his down fall. Quite a few of his top men also faced income tax evasion issues themselves but fared much better in the court system. The difference was that Al Capone was Public Enemy Number ONE and he was going down for the full count and then some. If it was anyone else during that time period he would have paid a fine or nothing at all.
