Jesse and Frank James were Confederate soldiers. When the Civil War ended, the two brothers recruited a few other Confederate soldiers and started robbing banks and trains up in the North because for them, the War never ended. The James Family had a farm in Southern Missouri and hated the Yankees for what they had done to their farm and blamed them for their mother losing her arm from an explosion on the Farm. The Yankees tried to impose an unrealistic tax on the James Family and many other Southerners before the Civil War ever began. When the tax wasn't paid, the Yankees would then try and burn down the Farms or the Plantations. The final 13 States that made up the Confederacy were as follows: Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri & Kentucky.
