From what I remember the Colombos got special permission to make Alphonse Perscio and so they made it that each family could make 2 new members. I could have sworn it was you who provided the info but I guess not. I'll edit it.

Interesting about guy's transfering to other families so they could get made and then transfereing back to NY.

I know there is a document that can be found on Mary Ferrell saying that Genovese members Sabato and Napoli were made in 1967. But the informant who claimed this was most probably wrong. Both of them (Sabato and Napoli) were likely made in 1976. I doubt that any NY soldier were made in the 1960s.

JD, you say that the books were officially reopened in 1976. But what about Vincent Cafaro´s statement that he was made in 1974 with Patsy Genese? The only explanation of this would be that Cafaro (just like Michael Franzese) was wrong about the year. What is your opinion on this?

Good idea Pogo, to make one thread on all known induction ceremonies. Good work too!

I think the Casso info on being made in 1974 comes from Philip Carlo´s awful book. A major part of it should not be taken seriously. I don´t know If it was Casso who told Carlo to write 1974 as the year of his induction, or if it´s just something that Carlo made up.

He was indeed made by Maranzano. At the time Maranzano was overseeing both the Castellemmarese and Reina/Gagliano groups. After the war the guy's made by him during the war had the choice of staying with the Gaglaino family (that were originally part of it) or joining his. Valachi chose to go with Maranzano while the other two made with him satyed with Gagliano. Of course after Maranzano was killed Valachi switched over to the Genovese family.
