Arrests in NY, induction ceremony taped

Re: Arrests in NY, induction ceremony taped
Your welcome. Your not wrong ,there is an uncertainty as to whether the Luppinos were a decina of Buffalo or a Ndrangeta family that were associates of the Buffalo Family.

A perfect example is the pending surge of Pueblo and its addition to the Commission.B. wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2017 4:06 am A lack of evidence is not evidence for the activity level of a mafia organization either way. Criminal activity itself is not a prerequisite for the existence of a mafia family -- the capacity for criminal activity is, but that's different. An easier way to understand the mafia is to say that it will use any means necessary to give itself an advantage with no regard for anyone outside of the group. Often that means criminal behavior, but not always. There have been countless members, even entire families, throughout the mafia's history whose criminal involvement has been so marginal that we would never know who they were unless informants mentioned them. This includes everyone from bosses to associates.
I would have no idea what the story is in Buffalo, so this isn't an argument for their existence. "Todaro Crime Family" is a highly specific reference, but more context is needed. For all we know the organization's leadership has moved over to the Canada faction.
Re: Arrests in NY, induction ceremony taped
Both on Gangster BB and here, I read part of Jerry Capeci's most recent Gangland News column in which he identifies, per sources, Vincenzo Morena as the cooperating witness. Occasionally I've been cross-posting, but if soliai or anyone else in a position of authority doesn't want me to, I'll stop.
Below is a link to a cached webpage of an article published June 23, 2016 in the Telegraph-Journal, a newspaper published in Saint John, New Brunswick. (New Brunswick is one of Canada's three maritime provinces.) I think the article describes what happened to Morena that he decided to become a cooperating witness.

You will have to scroll down a bit before you get to the article. My guess is that Morena was living in Quebec somewhere between Drummondville and Laval--probably the latter.

From the article to which I've linked below:
The investigation, said Michael McGarrity of the FBI, "unearthed and dug up the roots of a partnership extending from New York City to Buffalo and Toronto to Montreal, proving once again that Italian organized crime groups have evolved far beyond the neighbourhood cliques of days gone by."

Adrian Humphreys's tweet from last week:
Separate but related investigations revealed renewed Mafia links from New York to Buffalo and Toronto to Montreal; and led to arrests of significant La Cosa Nostra figures, says Michael McGarrity, special agent in charge of Criminal Division for the FBI’s New York Field Office.

Re: Arrests in NY, induction ceremony taped
Thanks. That archived article, which was behind a paywall, was the only one I could find on the Net about Morena.
I found some more archived articles on that newspaper's site. From the story I've linked to farther below: "Each of the 28 people arrested – police originally listed 29 arrests, but corrected the number to 28 on Thursday – face drug-related charges. Some also face charges of participating in the activities of a criminal organization, conspiracy to traffic drugs, firearms offences and possession of the proceeds of crime."

Could be a coincidence. One hell of a coincidence.

Gravelle Crime Family
Re: Arrests in NY, induction ceremony taped
The Gravelle Crime Family is more of a literal "crime family." They are very well known in Hamilton.

It reminds me old good souvenirs of the time I was at the RCMP Intelligence analysis section.
Thanks for posting that!

I see the Papalia's on the list. Assuming those are the Todaro family members they spoke about and all the speculation as to the membership of the Violi's was misguided.
If true it has to be a first that a member of American Cosa Nostra has sons who joined the Canadian N'drangheta.

Re: RE: Re: Arrests in NY, induction ceremony taped
This is a list from 2002 that may have little to do with the current indictment. In terms of family membership Canadian intelligence sometimes differs from the Americans. As an example the RCMP once considered the Rizzutos as their own family while the FBI believes they are Bonanno members. This might be the same case with the Violis.johnny_scootch wrote:I see the Papalia's on the list.
