Re: Who killed Angelo Bruno?

This is discussed extensively elsewhere, but DeLuca was seen in the area right before the murder by multiple witnesses and police suspected him of being involved. I strongly believe that Long John Martirano was involved in the conspiracy and may have set up the actual murder. Someone at Cous' had to...

Re: Joseph Gennaro / James Failla Crew Split 1967

It only specified Castellano and Gallo as Acting, Dellacroce could have been the official. The Gennaro regime (formerly under Joseph Franco, then Carmine Lombardozzi) was probably even larger than this, just listed the known members. It is the same meeting that was held at Leonardo Grillo's home, c...

Re: Joey Merlino Going Back To Prison

I always thought part of the motive of living in Florida was to help keep himself out of Philly, away from his buddies. He wouldn't have lasted ten minutes if he had went straight back to Philly, the feds were all over Angelina, Gambino, and Mazzone when they got out. By the time he gets out again,...

Re: Small families that were never on the FBIs radar

The Colacurcios were definitely not a "family" in the mob sense. I'm very familiar with them and the area where they lived/operated. Frank Sr. was a jetsetter in the strip club industry and also had some other small-time rackets, including gambling and prostitution, but they were never a d...

Re: Joey Merlino Going Back To Prison

We will surely hear and see more of him when he gets out and can meet anyone. This is what I suspect as well. Merlino has always enjoyed being brazen and though I believe he's a bit more mature now and wont' put himself at too much risk, I don't see him having any reservation when it comes to showi...

Just a correction for your Consalvo story...

Louis LaRasso was only the underboss for a period of time in the 1950's and was just a soldier from 1960 until just before his death, when he was promoted to capo.

Re: S. Burnstein's Mafia Insider/GangsterReport news - now f

That is great, man. Thank you. I am sorry that monetizing it didn't work, but it seems unlikely that any mob newsletter would generate much profit. I have to wonder how many subscribers Jerry Capeci has... most of his would-be customers are the types who would know about the forums where thankfully ...

Re: "This is for you Frank"

Where does the "This is for you, Frank" line originally come from? A witness? Like a lot of the more famous stories from mob lore, I question how much of this hit attempt went down the way it's been described. I don't have anything that disagrees with the established story except gut feel...

Re: "This is for you Frank"

Hey Mr. B, Who's arguing?? What are you talking about? All I said is that in Chicago they usually kill someone for a botched hit. That's all. So what? I didn't say Chicago was bigger or greater or anything of that nature. I was only relaying what I saw that was different in this one case. No ...

Re: Louis "Louie Eggs" Consalvo new DeCavalcante capo?

He is a NY guy and their NY crew has a captain so if Louie was made captain it would be of a NJ based crew. Logistically doesn't make sense but it isn't out of the realm of possibility. The DeCavalcantes have a history of having more than one capo based in NY and the crews don't necessarily follow ...

Re: Fast Risers

Philip "Philly Lucky" Giaccone also had a pretty fast rise. Two years after being made in 1976, Giaccone was part of a ruling panel, installed after Galante was sent to prison for parole violations. Another one would be Gerry Lang with the Colombos. He was made in 1976 and by 1981, he was...

Re: RE-POST: Excerpts from Valachi's "The Real Thing"

That is a great point about Maranzano living in Palermo as the capoprovincia before he moved over. Whether his grievances against Masseria were legitimate is one thing, but he really was a master politician and he must have used those connections to play on the emotions of his allies. Have you come ...

Re: RE-POST: The Rise and Demise of Tony Caponigro

RESPONSE FROM B.: I don't think DiGilio was suspected in the Caponigro killing... rather, the bodybag that was used in the Caponigro hit was linked to the same source as the bodybag in the DiGilio hit some years later, indicating that the same people might have killed both Caponigro and DiGilio. Th...

RE-POST: The Rise and Demise of Tony Caponigro

Since people are talking about Philly history again and I never get tired of that subject, it's a good time to bring up Tony Caponigro. He was born in 1912 in Cook, Illinois, but within a few years, when his brother Anthony was born (strange they had a son named Antonio "Tony" and another ...
