Re: Chicago Outfit Places of Origin

Yeah it is looking like Cammarata was a Chicago member for a time given he was obviously already a member at 1928 Cleveland and can be directly connected to Nicola Diana and Vincenzo Cutaia. The relationship to Diana is interesting too since Cammarata attended Cleveland with two of the most importan...

Re: The Genovese Family by Andy Petepiece (rant)

I will always respect and support Capeci but along these lines he published a eulogy for that guy Augie Cataldo who has only been publicly ID'd on Pinterest and called him a Genovese captain, a former member of the Rampers, and a relative of the other Cataldos with the Colombo and Lucchese Families....

Calogero Marsala was with the Arcuri crew. You might be thinking of Pasquale Marsala, different guy.

Re: The Genovese Family by Andy Petepiece (rant)

Yeah, ol' Paulie Stripes was a big joke on the RealDeal. Wikipedia was still fairly new then and people didn't know to be skeptical so we'd get a lot of people asking about him. As for Ask Andy, a lot of fun was had when Ivan seemingly got him "whacked". I don't even remember what it was a...

Guys who "seemed" made but weren't

With the deeper history we have to do a certain amount of guesswork when suspecting someone of membership and in many cases we are likely right but it's interesting when someone has all the signs of membership only to find out they were never made. Stresses the importance of inside sources who can c...

Re: Gambino family captain Domenico Acquista

Curious if Acquista had any interaction with the Arcuri crew too. They were both in the same parts of Queens, the Arcuris were described in an FBI report as employing zips in construction, and the crew had members from the same part of Agrigento. The Arcuris were from Alessandria della Rocca but the...

Re: New LCNBios posts

The D'Agatis get overshadowed by their relatives but were an extremely important family in Villabate. Gene's great-uncle Giulio D'Agate (original spelling) was boss of Villabate in the 1910s-1920s before his murder and Gene's grandfather Vincenzo was a Villabate member going back to the 19th century...

Excellent. Total support.

Interesting Costanzo was a Philly-based Pittston member. Caramandi talked about another guy who was a Pittston associate who lived in Philly as well.

Re: Longest running crews

DiLeonardo was clear when he mentioned Traina and Garofalo that those were the longest running unbroken crews. Obviously there are other crews with roots in much older crews but they had been split or reconfigured over the years, especially in Brooklyn. Some of those crews were mysterious even withi...

Re: Longest running crews

Yeah Michael was told the Garofalo and Traina crews were the longest running, continuous crews in New York. Both crews can be traced back to some of the earliest known Gambino leaders/members.

Re: Philadelphia seat on commission after Angelo Bruno

To add more confusion Jimmy Frattiano claimed (via Roselli) that Philadelphia, Buffalo and Detroit lost their Commission seats in the mid 1970s (going from memory I think he said it was 1976). Taking in all the evidence I lean towards this being the case. Pogo That's the impression I've always been...

Re: Boston 80s?

Ah, you've mentioned Faruggia before. Makes sense Chicago had a colony given the proximity to Rockford. Aragona is like a lot of Sicilian mining towns in that many people have left as industry dwindled. I know there are a good chunk of them in other parts of Europe, particularly Belgium. Biagio is ...
